County
of Sonderjylland, Denmark
| HQS
is working with the County of Sonderjylland on the development
of an integrated quality improvement, measurement and
assurance system for health and social care services in
the county. The Kvalitet I Sonderjyllands Sundhedsvaesen
project, or as the Danes call it "KISS", is
a major development for the County of Sonderylland and
has already attracted interest from other Danish counties.

approach is based on: |
|
Russell
Muddiman, Programme Manager (International) |
- The
adaptation and application of the HQS quality improvement
and assurance methodology to health and social care services,
including GPs, nursing homes and acute hospitals
- The
development and application of performance indicators to
measure results and the impact of changes in the way services
are organised and delivered
- The
development and implementation of clinical pathways to provide
a basis for evaluating the continuum of care and treatment
across organisational boundaries from primary to secondary
care
- The
continuous assessment of patient and social care users experience
of the services
- The
integration of these approaches into a continuous quality
performance framework.
The
approach is based on the concept of total organisational excellence
in which the focus is on people (users and staff), understanding
the process and environments (where and how care and treatment
are delivered) and results (the outcome expressed in terms
of patient experience and clinical results.
