All our surveyors must:

  • have a wide range of experience within healthcare in the NHS and/or the independent sector
  • have up-to-date knowledge of developments within healthcare
  • the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • good analytical and observational skills
  • experience of acting as an assessor, for example, accreditation of nursing courses or clinical posts and/or management development assessment
  • be committed to assuring quality in healthcare

Hospital programme applicants must:

  • hold a senior position in their healthcare profession for example:

manager/leader - chief executive, executive director, director of operations or corporate affairs, directorate/service manager, hospital/hospice manager or practice manager. 

Consultant - within any specialty, particularly holding a clinical or medical director post

nursing - board/director level/matron

Primary care programmes applicants must:

  • have at least six months experience at senior or middle management level in primary or community care, for example:

manager/leader - chief executives, general managers, directors of primary care/community care/health development/quality etc; practice/business managers, quality/primary care development managers

healthcare professionals: GP, public health consultant, nurse practitioner, nurse/GP board member of a PCG or PCTs, clinical governance lead/chairs of PCGs or PCTs
