HQS Surveyors

Surveyors are valued members of the HQS team. Indeed they are often referred to as the "life-blood" of our whole process. Recruited from the senior ranks of the healthcare industry, they bring to HQS a wealth of experience, knowledge and wisdom.

Our surveyors are all volunteers. They make a commitment to five days over a 12 month period as well as attending annual update sessions and contributing to the development of standards and the HQS process. In addition to surveys throughout the UK, there are now opportunities to participate in surveys in hospitals in Portugal, Denmark and the Republic of Ireland and primary health care teams in Germany.

Being a surveyor is demanding but very stimulating. It brings benefits to the organisation you are surveying, to your own organisation and to you as an individual. It provides opportunities to observe and disseminate good practice. It gives one of the best opportunities to ensure continuous personal development. CPD approval from several royal colleges and professional organisations has been received for surveyor events and surveys.

And with the advent of HQS Associates there are now opportunities for experienced surveyors to assist HQS provide a range of consultancy services click here to visit our Consultancy page

A rigorous selection process is applied to eligible candidates. Applicants who fulfil the criteria will be invited to attend a two-day training, assessment and selection event. Those selected are required to sign a letter of commitment in which the terms of engagement are defined. In addition, a statement of confidentiality is agreed with each surveyor. Performance criteria are monitored regularly and organisations are asked for formal feedback on various aspects of their surveyors.
